My life is not a single-minded pursuit of passion -
but rather a marvelous journey following the breadcrumbs of curiosity.
While I have moments that were clearly life-altering, I look back at seemingly insignificant events in my life and find they were the locus of origin for my trajectory moving in a different direction.
I often imagine Wanda Sykes' voice in my head saying the following:
The PLOT TWISTS create magic in my life far better than my own plan.
And so, I do the work to be prepared for collaboration with the plot twists.
Brene Brown's 10 guideposts for wholehearted living are my guide for preparing for magic:
I cultivate authenticity and let go of what people think.
I cultivate self-compassion and let go of perfectionism.
I cultivate a resilient spirit and let go of numbing and powerlessness.
I cultivate gratitude and joy and let go of scarcity and fear of the dark.
I cultivate intuition and let go of the need for certainty.
I cultivate creativity and let go of comparison.
I cultivate rest and play and let go of exhaustion as a status symbol and productivity as self-worth.
I cultivate calm and stillness and let go of anxiety as a lifestyle.
I cultivate meaningful work and let go of self-doubt and 'supposed to'.
I cultivate laughter, song, and dance and let go of cool and always in control.
I cultivate these values in both my personal and professional life.
There is a reason you have read this far.
Maybe you and I are part of each other's next plot twist.
